About the Author - Grandpapa

I am Paul (a.k.a. Grandpapa, king/guide of Homeschool Castle) a retired South African school principal who now lives and works in Thailand.

Stella is my wife. She is a school teacher who loves her job, her students and the parents of her students! She is a real inspiration to me.

We have an adopted boy who is now (in 2008) 9 years old. Formal schooling is quite a challenge for him and this has led us to discover Homeschool Castle.

On my site and on my blog I write under the name Grandpapa. There is really no good reason for this name except perhaps that I am grandfather to three grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

I have been in many different kinds of formal education for more than thirty years, but have never had more than a passing interest in homeschooling.

Academic qualifications include two masters degrees and a doctorate in the Philosophy of Education.

In what way am I qualified to author a site on homeschooling?

• I have developed a great interest in homeschooling
• I am homeschooling my son, and find it extremely stimulating and also very challenging
• I have the ability to sift through large volumes of information and find the essence of the matter under discussion.
• I would like to share my many wonderful discoveries with others who may have the same questions and concerns that I had before I discovered Homeschool Castle.

Website development

I have no formal (and even informal) qualifications in computers, internet marketing or website design. I am learning as I go along and enjoy every moment of it!

I am, however, quite sure that I would never have gotten this site off the ground if it was not for the valuable help and support that I get from Site Build It. I have never come across a company that over-delivers such as these people.
